She was born in Whitehorse, Yukon, traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council. She is a Canadian settler of Swedish and Ashkenazi Jewish descent. Santana has worked as a teaching artist and facilitator for various companies, including Carousel Theatre for Young People, Gwaandak Theatre, Nakai Theatre, and Educo Italia. She holds a TEFL: Performance and Play certification and has been working with youth for over 10 years, both in the rehearsal room and the classroom. Currently, she manages, co-curates and coordinates professional and community programming at Bard on the Beach. A graduate of Capilano University, Santana has also completed PTC's Block A and Rumble Theatre's 2020 Director's Lab. In her background as an actor, playwright, and director, Santana’s work and collaborations have been featured in festivals across Canada, including PuSH (Vancouver), Talking Stick (Vancouver), MT Space’s IMPACT Festival (Kitchener), Nakai Theatre’s Homegrown Festival (Whitehorse), Upintheair Theatre's rEvolver and Vines Art Festival (Vancouver). Her writing has been supported by Playwrights Theatre Centre and the Canada Council for the Arts.
